Installing the correct network cabling infrastructure is key to providing a stable platform to support the ever increasing demands being imposed on the entire network.

Imagine owning a Ferrari but only having dirt tracks to drive it on which limits the performance of the car. The same applies to networks. There is no point installing high specification network hardware capable of supporting Gigabit or 10 Gigabit if the cabling infrastructure is going to limit the overall performance.

The required performance of the network needs to be taken into consideration when designing the network infrastructure and also the correct components incorporated into the design. There are a large number of systems available in todays markets, all claiming to meet the relevant standards, however the reality is that the cheaper solutions do not offer the same level of Headroom achievable with the better known Manufacturers and this can cause problems when the network demands are increased.

The increasing speeds and bandwidth required by the users obviously have an affect on the backbone of the network and this is sometimes overlooked. Traditionally 50/125 and 62.5/125 multimode fibres have been installed into the majority of building and this limits the drive distance of 10Gigabit, however all new installations completed by IP Networks incorporate OM3, 50/125 fibre optic backbones capable of supporting 10Gigabit to a maximum of 300m.

We work very closely with the leading manufacturers to offer systems capable of supporting this demand and the additional costs can be justified as below.

  • Additional costs to replace cheaper solutions when performance is affected.
  • Lost time due to failure of network cabling.
  • Lost engineering time trying to resolve network issues.
  • Restrictions imposed on network.
  • Maximum return on investment.

We are also familiar with the budgets imposed on many establishments and we will work very closely with the Network Manager to ensure that these budgets are used in the best interest of the the user.
